Dragonflies Co-Op Lesson
Our Dragonfly Co-Op Lesson offers a beautiful peek into what it’s like to bring Abiding Wild into a group setting. This sample includes a fully scripted teaching guide with step-by-step instructions, photo visuals, a nature-inspired craft, and a fun group PE activity. You’ll also receive a Teacher Guide with helpful tips on lesson prep, craft organization, and leading your co-op time with confidence and ease.

So this was the very first unit study I completed with my preK (almost K) child. While we could not do the writing portions, there was still enough in the unit for both my children (including my 2 yr old) to do! We loved the book suggestions, and I as an adult learned (for the first time) to distinguish dragonflies from damselflies. We caught a damselfly to study and released him within a matter of hours. Still haven't caught a dragonfly, as they are much faster and tend to fly higher (we caught the damselfly bc it laid low in the grass and was slower). How exciting it was to learn about the meganeura and seeing it appear again in my children's dinosaur coloring book--like, "Hey, that looks familiar! Didn't we just study that??"--"YEAH!" XD We also add in (where applicable) a Wild Kratts episode at the end of our first lesson. We have since moved on to the Butterflies & Moths unit, which my eldest is loving. Thanks for making these units financially accessible to families like ours!
I came across abiding wild as God laid it on my heart to start a nature based co-op for our homeschool families. I thought the dragonfly unit was the best way to try it...and OH MY, did some with my kids and why would I not want to share with other families, its fun and so easy to use, and still gives you "freedom" to make it your own. THANK YOU!
