Embracing the Fall Transition: Rhythms of Learning and Wonder
The shift from summer to fall is always a tender one. The long, unhurried days of sunshine begin to shorten, school books are opened once more, and we step into fresh rhythms of learning. It’s a season filled…

Using “Sing a Song of Seasons” Within the Abiding Wild Curriculum
There’s something deeply grounding about opening a book of poetry and letting the words settle into your day like a soft hush. Sing a Song of Seasons: A Nature Poem for Each Day of the Year is one of those rare books that slows you down, draws your gaze toward beauty, and reminds you and your children to savor the present moment. In the Abiding Wild curriculum, we’ve intentionally woven this poetry collection into our rhythm, not just as a lovely extra, but as a way to cultivate wonder, presence, and a relationship with the natural world.

Charlotte Mason-Inspired: The Heart Behind Abiding Wild
At Abiding Wild, we often say we’re “Charlotte Mason-inspired.” But what does that really mean?
It doesn’t mean we follow her method to the letter. We don’t hold fast to rigid schedules or rules. Instead, we’ve been shaped by the spirit of her philosophy…

How to Start a Homeschool Group That Feels Like Home
When we first dreamed of gathering with other homeschool families, we weren’t looking for a perfectly polished program. We were looking for faith-grounded connection. For shared purpose. For a space where moms and children alike could breathe a little deeper, feel seen, and grow together.
Over time, we’ve come to believe this deeply…

Glow Stick Party Games
When the sun sets on a summer evening and the kids aren’t quite ready for bed yet, it’s time to crack some glow sticks! Whether you’re out camping in the woods or you’re with a group of friends, glow stick parties are just good fun!
Read on for games and activities (if you need them…sometimes kids have better ideas they take off with).
What I Wish I Had Known as a New Homeschool Mom
If we could share a gentle message to our earlier homeschooling mama selves—those ones bright eyed with planners and curriculum bookshelves full who may have felt defeated at the end of a long day—this is what we would say.

“But What About Socialization?” (The Question Every Homeschooler Gets and Why We’re Not Worried)
If you’ve homeschooled for more than five minutes, you’ve probably heard it:
“But what about socialization?”
Cue the dramatic pause. The concerned eyebrows. The subtle implication that your children might one day grow up to speak only in Morse code and woodland creature calls.
But here’s the truth: Our kids? They’re socializing just fine—thank you very much.

New to Homeschooling? Here Are Some of Our Favorite Things
When we first started homeschooling, I had no idea what we actually needed. I wanted our space to feel cozy and inspiring—but also functional for the rhythm of our days. Over time, we’ve found a few favorites that have really helped us find our groove, and fall is the perfect time to stock up!
One of the best things we did early on was set up a small homeschool space—just a corner with shelves, art supplies within reach in a caddy, some learning posters on the wall, and a rolling cart for books, art, and manipulative supplies. It didn’t need to be Pinterest-perfect, just organized enough to make learning feel peaceful and inviting. We use it for everything from quiet reading to game-schooling afternoons (Trekking the World, anyone?).

Must Haves for the Co-Op Leader
It’s almost fall—time for homeschool co-op leaders to stock up on essentials without breaking the bank. Whether you're preparing for a new season of teaching or simply looking to refresh your supplies, we have found it SO helpful to invest in tools that support hands-on learning and meaningful connection. We’ve gathered our favorite items to help you feel equipped, inspired, and ready for a purposeful year ahead.

True Freedom: A July 4th Reflection on Faith and Homeschooling
As fireworks light up the sky this July 4th, many of us pause to give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. But for those of us walking with Christ, this day also carries a deeper, more enduring meaning—a reminder that the greatest freedom of all is found not in a flag, but in the Cross.

So You’re Thinking About Homeschooling...
Maybe you’re just beginning to consider homeschooling, or perhaps you’ve already made the decision to step into this sacred calling. Maybe the Lord stirred something in your heart — a conviction to bring your children home and guide their education yourself.
Perhaps it was the bullying, the tears, the constant homework, the rushed mornings… or simply the ache of knowing that you’re not the primary influence in your child’s life right now.
Whatever brought you here, I want to say — I see you, and I applaud your courage. Just entertaining this journey takes faith and intention. Welcome, friend.
