New to Homeschooling? Don’t Miss These Prime Day Must-Haves
When we first started homeschooling, I had no idea what we actually needed. I wanted our space to feel cozy and inspiring—but also functional for the rhythm of our days. Over time, we’ve found a few favorites that have really helped us find our groove, and Prime Day is the perfect time to grab them without overspending.
One of the best things we did early on was set up a small homeschool space—just a corner with shelves, art supplies within reach in a caddy, some learning posters on the wall, and a rolling cart for books, art, and manipulative supplies. It didn’t need to be Pinterest-perfect, just organized enough to make learning feel peaceful and inviting. We use it for everything from quiet reading to game-schooling afternoons (Trekking the World, anyone?).
Art supplies are a must in our house—watercolors, nature journals, markers, colored pencils—because creativity is at the heart of how we learn. And of course, books, books, books! I have three bookshelves in my living room, and try to keep a mix of beautiful picture books, read-alouds, and living books that tie into what we’re exploring outdoors.
Since so much of our learning happens outside, a few nature tools have become essentials too—child-size binoculars, field guides, a sturdy magnifying glass, and our beloved collapsible wagon to haul it all (plus snacks!) on our nature walks. These simple tools help us stay connected to God’s creation and make the most of every season. On yesterday’s post, I share links to recommended Nature Backpack essentials for your kids.
And finally—planning. Whether you use a digital planner or a beautiful paper one (like the one shared below), having a rhythm in place helps you show up with more peace and purpose. Prime Day is a great chance to invest in what will support you as a homeschool parent too. Below you will also find links to books that support and encourage you in your homeschool journey.
Kait and I (Heather) have curated this list for you, from our own homeschool journeys. Our hope is that these favorites ease the overwhelm and spark fresh excitement as you build a homeschool life that reflects your family’s values and rhythms.
Blessings sweet friends, until next time. ~Heather
